Non-Surgical Root Canal

What is a Root Canal?

More than 14 million Root Canals are performed each year. It is the treatment of choice for patients dealing with trauma to the tooth, including cracks, deep decay, chips or infection. While simple in nature, a Root Canal can help save your natural teeth and prevent the need for bridges or dental implants in the future. When trauma occurs to a tooth, the pulp (center of the tooth) can become infected, often causing swelling, sensitivity to temperature, tooth and gum discomfort, or visible damage.

How a Root Canal is Performed

Patients who continue to experience these symptoms may require treatment to remove the diseased tooth pulp. Once the pulp is taken out, the Root Canal system is properly cleaned and then sealed. A Root Canal typically involves the use of local anesthesia and may require one or more visits. In over 90 percent of cases, a Root Canal is successful.

After Your Treatment

Once the Root Canal procedure is completed, a record of the treatment is sent to your restorative specialist. It’s recommended that you call their office to schedule a follow-up appointment within a few weeks after the procedure. Complications are rare after a Root Canal but if a problem does occur, our office is available at all time to respond to your situation.

How Much Does a Root Canal Cost?

Costs associated with Root Canals can vary depending on the severity of the tooth damage, as well as which tooth is affected. Overall, a tooth canal is a much more affordable option than complete teeth removal involving an artificial tooth replacement.
